1. HEALING: Batch Cooking

Batch cooking is one of the best ways to save time and ensure you're always eating healthy, nourishing meals, especially when life gets busy. My patients often say "I don’t have time to cook different meals every night," and my answer is simple: don’t. Instead, batch cook when you prepare your next meal or dedicate a day each week to cooking in bulk. What I mean by this is making plenty of leftovers—plenty enough to last for several days. This way, when it’s cold and gloomy, or when my partner Paul is out for the night and I’m eating solo, or when I’m just plain tired and don’t feel like cooking, I’ve got a fridge full of ready-to-eat, nourishing meals.

If you’re not batch cooking, then you're more likely to be buying food out, and we all know what that leads to—Uber Eats, Deliveroo, whatever the app of choice is. It’s so easy to get something delivered to your door with the touch of a finger and a credit card. But I say no thanks. I don’t want ultra-processed ingredients like industrialised seed oils, which are inflammatory and harm the environment and animals during industrial farming. And don't get me started on the amount of sugar, alternatives to sugar, and refined salt. No wonder we're seeing so much high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, cancer and nutritional deficiencies. And I certainly don’t want artificial additives to make food seem deceptively tasty.

I want real food—whole, nutritious, and healing food that is simply delicious to eat. I want a bank of food in my freezer for those rainy days!
